What is this PDF highlight tool?
A free, browser-based tool for marking up a PDF. Drag across a page to draw a semi-transparent highlight or an outlined box, or click to add text (Japanese supported), pick a color, and download a PDF with the marks baked in. There's nothing to install and no sign-up — and because everything runs locally in your browser, your file is never uploaded to a server.
How to highlight a PDF
- Upload your PDF by dragging it in or clicking the upload area.
- Pick the page you want to mark up, choose the Highlight, Box, or Text tool, and pick a color (plus border width or font size).
- Drag across the large page preview to draw each annotation (or click to place text, then type in the panel). Drag a mark to reposition it, or drag its corners to resize. Remove any from the list on the right.
- Press “Apply & download” to get a PDF with the highlights and boxes baked in.
Common use cases
- Calling out key clauses in a contract or report before sharing it.
- Marking which fields need attention on a form or invoice.
- Adding quick visual feedback to a draft without a heavy PDF editor.
