What is this EXIF / metadata stripper?
A free, browser-based tool that removes hidden metadata from your images — EXIF data, GPS location, camera model, and capture timestamp. It works by re-encoding each image through a canvas, which writes out only the raw pixels and drops every metadata field. Upload one or many images, then download cleaned copies as a single ZIP, at the original resolution. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.
Why remove EXIF metadata?
Photos taken on a phone or camera quietly embed where and when they were shot, along with the device used. When you post that image online, anyone can read those fields and learn your home address, daily routine, or equipment. Stripping the metadata before sharing protects your privacy — and doing it in the browser means you never have to trust a third-party server with a sensitive photo.
How to use it
- Upload one or more images on the left (drag & drop or click).
- Review what gets removed: GPS, camera, capture time, and other EXIF.
- Press “Clean & download zip” to get metadata-free copies of every image.
Common use cases
- Removing GPS location before posting a photo to social media.
- Cleaning product or listing images before uploading to a marketplace.
- Stripping camera and timestamp data from images attached to a report.
