What is this whitespace collapser?
A free, browser-based tool that collapses runs of spaces and tabs into a single space. Copy-paste from PDFs, OCR output, spreadsheets, and chat logs often leaves double spaces and stray tabs scattered through your text; this tool folds them back to one space, optionally including full-width spaces ( ), and can trim the whitespace at the start or end of each line. Newlines are preserved, and everything runs locally in your browser, so your text is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box on the left.
- Toggle the options — collapse full-width spaces, trim line ends, trim line starts.
- The cleaned text updates live on the right.
- Copy the result with one click.
Common use cases
- Cleaning double spaces and tabs out of text pasted from PDFs or OCR before publishing.
- Normalizing spacing in copy so it renders consistently in HTML, slides, or email.
- Removing trailing whitespace and stray full-width spaces from form or CSV values.
