What is this emoji & decorated text stripper?
A free, browser-based cleaner that removes emoji and normalizes Unicode 'decorated' glyphs (the bold / italic Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols) back to plain ASCII. It is the inverse of a decorated text generator: paste text full of 👍 🎉 or 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑐 characters and get clean, screen-reader-safe text you can copy with one click. Everything runs in your browser, so your text is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Paste your text on the left.
- Toggle 'Strip emoji' and 'Normalize decorated text' to choose what to clean.
- Copy the cleaned output on the right and paste it wherever you need plain text.
Why clean emoji and decorated glyphs?
Decorated glyphs are not real font styles — they are distinct Unicode characters that merely look bold or italic. Screen readers may read emoji aloud one by one and mispronounce or skip styled letters, and such text often breaks search, sorting, and CSV imports. Normalizing it back to plain ASCII restores accessible, machine-readable text.
Common use cases
- Cleaning a copied bio or post before reusing it as plain text.
- Removing emoji from data before importing it into a CSV or spreadsheet.
- Undoing Unicode bold / italic styling that breaks screen readers.
