What is this color palette extractor?
A free, browser-based tool that pulls the dominant color palette out of any image. Upload a photo, screenshot, logo or illustration, and it samples the pixels and runs median-cut quantization to produce a set of representative swatches. Copy each color as HEX or RGB, copy the whole palette as CSS variables or a Tailwind snippet, or download a swatch-strip PNG. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.
How to use it
- Upload an image on the left (drag & drop or click).
- Adjust the slider to choose how many colors to extract (2–12).
- Click any HEX or RGB value to copy it, or copy the whole palette as CSS / Tailwind.
- Press “Download swatch PNG” to save the palette as an image.
Common use cases
- Building a brand color scheme from a logo or moodboard image.
- Pulling CSS variables or Tailwind colors straight from a design mockup.
- Matching a slide deck or landing page to the colors of a hero photo.
